lazy sunday -- little rituals

I haven’t been able to make a meditation habit stick, as much as I would like to. But I have spent the last month beginning my days with morning prayer from my Book of Hours — extra special because the theologian who wrote it was one of my father’s best friends. I remember delightedly browsing the used bookstore he and his partner owned when I was very young, and they always sent the best books as birthday and Christmas gifts.

I’ll admit, I sometimes rush through, watching the clock, anxious to finish the self-imposed ritual and have a little time with my tea and a novel before a tony voice starts chattering upstairs.  But on the good days, I can left myself sink into it, clearing my mind and finding a moment of calm before the busy day begins.

What little rituals do you have to get you through the day?

If one of them is setting aside time to reading interesting and funny and lovely things, I’ve got a few links you might like.
